I left the stock DV tranny alone before I did the conversion. Did me well over four years no issues!

Found from TheSamba on identifying quality CVs:

My last set of (4)four LoBro CVs were purchased at VanCafe. I called and specifically asked for joints with the (3)three grooves on one side and (1)one on the opposite side. Just like the old Vanagon joints. Out of the group a couple had the star reversed. I then polished them, clocked them, and installed with a very high quality grease. No issues since. Take some time keeping everything extremely clean. I don't wish CV joint issues on anyone. They just don't build them like they used to.
