Howdy! This wiki was created by myself; William Pool, usually known as Will / Willie.
I bought Betsy my 1.6na Westfalia back in 2012 as a 32yr Birthday present, because of my disability and having something easier to camp in than a standard tent. Having had zero previous mechanical background or knowledge someone at the time who was into old air-cooled VW campers, they suggested a VW water-cooled bus. I saw the WBX and air-cooled MPG's and almost had another stroke. The Subie converted vans didn't interest me. The bastard 82’1.6na diesel with it’s 32-34mpgs grabbed me.
Being an Ex-Techie Engineer, I decided to create this wiki primarly for myself for logging my work and research on my VW, as my health was harder to keep focus on tasks--one reason why I went on disability (SSDI).
It ultimately grew larger than I thought, and I eventually gained the motivation, gumption. and confidence to do my own mTDI conversion having two other buds help with the grunt work with me.
In that regard, this reference documentation wikipedia was offered up to the community to join and contribute.
